“It was a pleasant cafe, warm and clean and friendly, and I hung up my old water-proof on the coat rack to dry and put my worn and weathered felt hat on the rack above the bench and ordered a cafe au lait. The waiter brought it and I took out a notebook from the pocket of the coat and a pencil and started to write"

Spoken Word

  1. Hella lots of videos! Here are some of my thoughts in regards to each. I paraphrased quite a bit, but hit me up if you want to discuss more!!
Video #1: That man is a very powerful rapper. It was beautiful.
Video #2: This video would have been an excellent reference for a paper I wrote for my social inequalities class! I'm only two years too late. ;P
Video #3: This is a beautiful poem. However, I'm not keen on this one. Too much flattery happening for my tastes.
Video #4: I found this one very compelling. That young man is also an extraordinary rapper. Some parts of it remind me of a Garth Brooks song--We Shall Be Free.
Video #5: I appreciate the idea that some jewels are hidden away and that beauty is more than skin deep. And, I believe this no matter what you or anyone else might be wearing. I think covering up or not is a personal choice, and that it doesn't make much difference in the end because appearance isn't the measure of a man's soul. Definitely a thought provoking piece.
Video #6: He referenced Britney Spears. Lol! Definitely wasn't expecting that. But, I can appreciate the rewrite. :)
