“It was a pleasant cafe, warm and clean and friendly, and I hung up my old water-proof on the coat rack to dry and put my worn and weathered felt hat on the rack above the bench and ordered a cafe au lait. The waiter brought it and I took out a notebook from the pocket of the coat and a pencil and started to write"

What is the history/meaning of your name? How was it chosen?

Here's a question to get your creative juices pumping! Especially for those of you who haven't posted yet or having a difficult time coming up with something to share :-)

  1. MY CAFE NAME: Taken from one of my favorite malicious goddesses, as explained in my post about mythology.

MY REAL NAME: I'm not telling you what it is...I like to keep my name under wraps online when not on Facebook...but I can say this much: Mom picked it because of a sort of mentor figure she had in school. It's Biblical, but I found the character it corresponds to and I don't actually feel a connection to her, sadly. At school, I was one of four people in my class with that name, and probably one of ten in the entire school. It was a common name. Still is, really.

  2. I had to go look up what my name was here and was a bit disappointed. I may be changing my name soon.

  3. Tehreem: The meanings in Urdu and Arabic are a little bit different, but related. In Arabic (the name comes from the 66th chapter of the Qur'an) it means "prohibition" and in Urdu, it means "respect."

Fatima: This is the name of Mohammed's (may peace and blessings be upon him) daughter. It means "one who weans an infant" and/or "one who abstains"

Sabir: This comes from the Arabic, 'sabr,' which means "forbearance"/"patience".
